another large piece of glass that looks like an impressionist painting to me
I will add another photo with light bulb on after switching out the old style plug that they formerly used in Italy
the glass lamp is 30 wide x 34 high cm
-
I am happy with how the lamp looks with light on ;D
-
Love it but is it Murano? I have some art deco floor lamps and ceiling lights but don't think any of them are Murano.
-
I have no clue if it is Murano or not, I bought it because I liked the design and workmanship
funny that on ebay, 1stdibs, chairish, etsy.......... all the sellers are "dead sure" a piece is Murano or Venini or Barovier or Cenedese or maybe a combination of all of the above ;D
meanwhile here on the glassmessages board, there are experts on glass who are unsure about the origin of many pieces
later this week I will post photos of some incredible glass lighting I purchased recently, a few pieces are marked Murano but most of them are not
-
Jon: There is a good reason for this and when I started I was pretty sure what I was looking at.
The problem comes when you see pieces that you are sure about and the label is different. This is because anything that was popular was copied by many Murano artists.
The first pic is genuine with label, then you get 2nd one an absolute rip-off of Archimede I bought from Japan. The 3rd one is part of a pair I own and I ain't sure about them after 5 years of claiming they are A.S.

I have been buying some cool pieces at very moderate prices
what I am not buying is some seller's story about all things being Murano or Seguso or ????
vintage / antique lighting is what I am concentrating on now
not everyone needs a vase or paperweight but everyone needs a lamp or three ;D
-
This lampshade looks a bit '40s/'50s and a little bit Royal Brierley, to me.
I am beginning to wonder when I'll be able to see your home shining brightly at night...
from Scotland. ;D
-
once I find a few more light bulbs and another multi-socket, I will light up the skies of Northern Italy
you may very well see a slight glow ;D
-
ABSOLUTELY LOVE! the flat stripped light fitting at the front of your photo. Do you know anything about it?
-
I have seen many similar hanging lights online but it seems that what separates the really cool ones is the number of stripes and detail, the one I have has 62 stripes and they are not black but an aubergine colour, much like with fine men's shoes
my guess is the zebra stripe hanging light is from the 1970s
or at least I think this is the lamp you are referring to ;D

and like all things glass that I have expressed an interest in here in Italy at a market, a shop or online
the owner's reply is always "īt is a Murano and bellissima" ;D
-
That's it, would look gorgeous in a modern flat or even a house. Very smart and chic.

You know it's not all Murano and they know as well, great part of the negotiation game. You have good taste.
