Hi, any ideas for this? Height of complete lamp is 11cm, the glass part is one solid block and is 6cm square viewed from the top. The switch has ‘made in Italy’ and has a CE mark so post dates 1985 and the transformer (240v to 12v) has West Germany on it so would pre date 1990. It has a faded paper label tied to the wire that reads ‘elementri’ which looks like the trade name. Many thanks.

I was looking at glass ice cube lights yesterday - mine turned out to be Iviken from IKEA, but I have yet to figure out a maker. I didn't see anything like yours. I have also been looking at Poliarte lamps (awesome!), and I think we can rule them out for yours.
I'm finding it difficult to work out the geography of your lamp from the pictures. Is it square, or a flattened cube? Are any of the pictures the base in your post? The "guts" of my one come out completely. Does the cable go into a hole drilled through the glass in yours, or can you remove the guts? It appears to have a frosted pedestal - is it made in one piece? Maybe a few more pictures would help, and it would be interesting to see it lit.

Hi again, thanks for looking! The glass part sits on a hollow aluminium base that contains the light bulb, I should have shown this. The second photo above is a side view of the glass part, the bit on the underside that looks like a fat inverted ‘T’ sits inside the aluminium base and two clamps hold it in place via the slots. The glass part that is on show is almost a cube but is slightly too short. The glass is solid, not at all hollow, and sits above the bulb rather than surrounding it.
The first photograph actually showed it lit but it doesn’t show well, I probably need to do something clever with the camera exposure setting, I’ve had another go. The aluminium gets quite hot, even though it’s only 12 volt so I might see if I can convert it to use LEDs.
I like the Poliarte lamps! Not seen them before, some look inspired by Jenga? The Iviken ones remind me of those glass bricks you see in walls. :)

Ahhh.......the ones on that sort of base seem to be touch lights.....does yours work the light when you tap it?
Love how it looks lit up!

...does yours work the light when you tap it?
...only if the wiring is faulty! Only joking, it’s not that sophisticated. It has a separate switch in the wire to turn on and off like a bedside lamp. It’s not terribly bright, more like mood lighting, but quite nice. Not that I think it’s anything to do with Mdina but it reminded me of their small square bottles.
