Title: Antique SANDWICH POINSETTIA w Holy Leaves. ID = Caithness
Post by: carlovision on August 18, 2019, 10:10:55 AM
Wondering if this is Boston Sandwich or Caithness of Scotland - can't find any w/ outer garlands of millefiori and also with the Poinsettia. Any ideas as to provenance / value appreciated.

Please post pictures of the profile and base, and add measurements.

Thank you

Hi there,

This looks Caithness to me. However, Caithness weights are marked with complete description on the base - so you should have all the required information there (unless they are seconds).

Hi.  This is not antique: it uses Caithness style canes for the garland.  Any marks on the base? Also, does any of the garland canes have a letter 'E' in the middle?

It is Caithness - the October weight of the 1995 floral year series. These would usually be marked on the base - no idea, why this is missing on your weight.
