Title: Pink & Green Ruffled Vase
Post by: Jagtype on August 23, 2019, 11:57:40 AM
Hello,

I am hoping someone might be able to help me out with a possible ID for my vase. I purchased a tray of items from auction yesterday and this was in with it, but I have no idea what it is. I have done a google search etc, but without knowing anything about it, just searching for pink & green ruffled vase etc is not providing me with much of a result.

As you can see from the photos it is pink and green with ruffles to the top. It clearly looks handblown due to the pontil and bubble seen inside the main body of the vase. It is quite a rough pontil.

It weighs around 220g and is approx. 7 inches tall at its highest point.

Thank you!!

Any assistance will be very gratefully received.

Hi and welcome :)
It looks to be a nice Victorian? cranberry and uranium glass vase.  The green leaves look to be U.V. reactive.  If you have UV torch to hand it should glow in the dark.
Can't help with the attribution, but someone will be along soon enough to help.

Just about to say "cranberry with uranium rigaree" and possibly a spill vase.
But you got in before me, Anne.  :)
These terms should help you with a search, Jagtype, but tracking down the maker might not be that easy.

Thank you for the very quick replies!

That's really helpful, I will re-start my search now I am armed with a bit more information.

Very much appreciated.  :)

It's either English or Bohemian in my opinion but I'm leaning more towards English. Does it have a good ring when you flick it? You're unlikely to find a maker though

Hi Lustrousstone, I would say it has a good ring to it yes.

Hope that helps?

That pushes me further towards English - an awful lot of English Victorian glass was lead crystal based but they doesn't seem to be the case with Bohemian glass
