Hi,
I recently bought these 2 vases as I love the pattern!! However, I have no idea as to make, country of origin, age etc...
I am wondering if they are handblown, despite the lack of a pontil. I can see what looks like a few small bubbles in the base area and the top rim is pretty uneven. They are orange, browns, grey and black etc on a pale transparent background. They appear more white on the inside and have a lovely gloss. They are about 26cm tall.
Any help would be fantastic!

Italian 'Opaline Florence' If I'm not mistaken.

Hi Mosquito,
Thanks for the really quick response! I have just looked that up and I think you're right! That's great.
Is that also classed as Murano? I noticed some were calling it Murano and I just washed them out (lot of dust & bugs inside!) and a small handwritten note saying Murano Vases fell out!
Thanks again

Florence is a good bit away from Venice ;) - not Murano. Florentine.
It is generally a good idea to question any "Murano" attribution without real evidence.

You make a very good point chopin-liszt!! :D
Quite a few refer to Murano, maybe due to that being such a well known name.
I have also seen some refer to Empoli, is that related to it? Excuse my ignorance...

Empoli is Florentine. :)
They made the very popular retro "genie bottles". Pressed/moulded glass, not individually hand made things.
We were all new to this once, don't worry. We're here to help if we can. :)
