Title: Small perfume bottle. Unknown maker.
Post by: Anne E.B. on September 12, 2019, 10:51:19 AM
Any ideas as to who made this small perfume bottle would be appreciated.  I've checked IoWSG, Dartington, Portmeirion, and several studio glass makers without finding a similar pattern/style  match.
I have a feeling it is made here for some unexplained reason, possibly because I had two small vases which were similar pattern that turned out to be made in the U.K. but I can't for the life of me remember who, and can't find it trawling through my previous postings ::)  It was probably so long ago.
TIA ;)

That's a pretty little thing Anne, have you ruled out Phoenician?

Oooh I'd forgotten about them, although I did check Mdina, so I'll have a search.
Thanks :-*

Thanks for that John ;) and I've now found my old post https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,22453.msg126820/topicseen.html#msg126820.

Your link showing the paperweight, plus mine from 8 years ago look very much related to my perfume bottle.   No wonder I couldn't remember that one of the pieces was a paperweight and not two vases and that they were made by Dartington::)

I'm pretty sure it is from the same "Kyoto Studio Collection"  although I can't find out any further info regarding this collection and have never heard of it before.

I wondered if the Kyoto part was a bit of seller embellishment. The name and pattern could be seen as a bit of an Isle of Wight Studio rip off, I don't see Dartington doing that deliberately.

Well done on making the connections John. I'm a little late here, having followed your links elsewhere. But I did bring the link to Anne's old thread with me.  ;D

Perhaps the Dartington Kyoto collection/range is based on the cherry blossom that blooms every year in Spring there.  I can certainly imagine cherry blossom when I look at my perfume bottle :)
May be influenced the IoWSG range too ???
