Title: Tiny experimental textured vase?
Post by: mdina glass on September 16, 2019, 10:42:11 AM
Here I have what I think is a very small cute textured vase with a polished pontil base,
It has a lot of internal bubbles and seeds in the glass and has some silver chloride in there to.
could this be a boffo bit of mdina/as the small textured jugs.
hope someone can shed some light on this for me.
Thank you in advance,
Regards Kev.

That mould was used for small pots with narrow necks and flanged rims at Mdina, as well as by the Boffos for tiny little jugs.
I would not assume Boffo because of the mould used. If it were a jug, it would be a valid assumption.

i think you can add it to your unusual open topped large textured cylinder as; "early-ish experimental".  :)

A Boffo is clearly "not ruled out" as well as "not ruled in". But it is Mdina.

I found an image of a small flanged rim pot on the web. i think it's a later piece, it's what Mark calles the "jewel-like" deeper teal shade.

These pots came in two sizes, one about 4.75" diameter and 5" tall, these come in amber and teal, and smaller ones, 2.75" diameter and 3" tall which come in several colours, including splodgy pink and amethyst.
The image in the link looks like a small one, but isn't according to the dimensions. I think the price asked is a little bit on the optimistic side.  ;D

Absurd website that. For that price I would expect to buy 29 of these vases.

When that image disappears this one will have to do. This one is the smaller version found in this shape.

That's a much nicer one anyway.   :)

But you're forgetting the other three vases, to cover the postage.  ;D

I suspect we may be skating on somewhat thin ice here, :o
Even if it is quite fun when things are so optimistic.  :P
The images on that site are good ones.
And it does turn up a lot, at the top, in searches that I have noticed recently.

Just catching up on posts after a long absence, I thought I’d add some pics of my little textured collection. I 💓 these . Never given much thought to the moulds used or how many times they were used 🤔
The largest vase is the same dimensions as stated earlier and on the link. 4.75cm wide and 4.75ish cm tall.
