Title: Caithness limited edition paperweight Tynwald
Post by: Blondie109 on September 22, 2019, 08:56:54 PM
I have a limited edition Caithness paperweight and I can't seem to find anything about it.  It has a viking ship on the front with 979 and 1979 as well as "TYNWALB"   On the base is a Caithness Engraving sticker and etched 32/100 Caithness Scotland.

I've got a Caithness paperweight book but there is nothing in there regarding this paperweight.  I wondered if anyone knew anything about it.  TIA

Hi and welcome to the board.

1979 was the millennial anniversary of the Isle of Man parliament, the Tynvald, so the two numbers are dates 979 (the founding date) and 1979 (the anniversary), so your piece will be a commemorative weight from 1979.

Could you add photos of your weight please as I don't think we've seen one on the board before. If you need help posting photos see our help forum here https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/board,22.0.html
