Post by: david31162 on September 25, 2019, 11:32:23 AM
Hello,
Can anyone hep me with this piece. I have no idea of its age or origin.
It is about 32cm wide with a 5.2cm bronze centre.
Thank you for looking.
David

Hello David.  Please add a picture of the whole piece - I suspect it may be by Corry Ammerlaan.

Thank you so much Cat! So speedy too. Exactly right and I can see other examples of this piece when searching with this name. Why are many signatures so tricky? I collect paintings as much as glass and even initials are difficult to read at times.
I'd been searching for ages before I remembered to come back here for expert help. Not been here for some time.
Thanks again,
David

I didn't even realise it was signed!  It's the Henry Moore type figures that gave me a clue.  It would still be good to have a full shot on the board for reference to help others in the future.

If you might be able to help me with a mystery picture, please email me your contact details so that I can send you some pictures.

It was only 3 letters not a full signature … can't say initials because they don't appear to be her initials.

I've sent you an email so you can contact me about the picture.

David, her full name is Corry Ammerlaan-van Niekerk......so if the initials were CAN rather than CKN that might make sense.  You'd need to have a look at the places she worked to see if the second set of initials might relate to that.

Thanks re picture.  Will email you when I have photographs.

Thanks Cat that makes sense. No wonder I searched for hours after misreading the letters.
