Title: Is this gorgeous vase Murano?
Post by: Catisfaction on August 23, 2006, 02:10:50 AM
I LOVE this vase. I'm assuming it's Murano because of the Gold Aventurine. But you know what they say about assuming....

It's 10" tall 4 3/4" diameter at the widest. Gorgeous greens with.... Would it be Murrhina? And Gold aventurine.

I'm thinking it's fairly recent but what do I know?

So what do you think peeps? Am I doing ok or waaaaaaaaaaaay off base?

Hello Cat ..... Your vase is very beautiful.  I can't say for sure it's not Murano (it did not come with any such label) but can share that I have one just like it and mine was purchased about 4 years ago at Pier One Imports.  It has received many compliments over the years and I still admire its lovely colors.  Enjoy!  :)

All the best .... Lily

I would look either further East for this ones origins or South America.
Just my own thoughts

Hi Cat,

These were sold at Pier 1, although unscrupulous ebay sellers offer them as Murano.  They are East Asian.

Cat, I do hope you don't mind me asking this but why bother asking the good people on this board for the benefit of their advice/knowledge and then knowingly ignore what you've been told and list the vase on eBay as Venetian?  It's extremely misleading (in my opinion of course).

Hi Pip, My apologies, I hadn't seen the last couple of posts here when I listed it last night   I guess I should have checked again.

It will be fixed. I'm not one to mislead my customers intentionally.

Hiya Cat, no worries, I've listed plenty of things incorrectly in the past (and still do from time to time) - glass is a total minefield isn't it?  It'd make all our lives much easier if they blimmin' well signed everything!

Oh i hear that one. When I travel and visit small local glass blowing studios I always ask if they sign their glass. If they say no I beg them to please start marking it lol.
