Hi,
Anyone seen these before and know what they were used for ? Both are light blue facet cut with star cut bases and 7.5 cm long / 4.5 cm wide / 2.5 cm high
Thank You!
Adam

Salts maybe ? ;D

Open salts?
Beaten by Keith!

;D ;D

Thanks for the replies guys but I ruled out salts as they are far too small for those I think, I've never seen salts as small as these but possibly some other kind of seasoning , maybe? ???
-
They're a fine size for a salt.
Bigger than the Stumpf, Touvier and Violette one I use. ;)
Just not a "master salt", which is what I think the big ones you're thinking about are.
-
My salts are even smaller, I own a couple, they are all maximum 3 cm in diameter and 1,5-2 cm high.
this is even to big for caviar.
in the moment I don´t have a clou

ok great thank you to everyone who commented and the pics provided , salts they are then :)

I know I'm digressing, but ………………. love those caviar pots Monika - the right hand example looks to be white and red enamel - is the decoration produced in cloisonné - both pots look possibly late art nouveau - c. 1900 - 1910?
You have a collecting style which has interest, some nice pieces there. :)
I haven't had caviar for a long time - can't find the right fish. ;)

Hello Paul
I think every serious collector thinks that I should have a special interest in some age, shape or company. I collect every glass which touches me somehow. These 2 caviar pots , I thought in the beginning they are salts , I think are both from the russian area. The right one is not realy cloisonné , it is more cutted molds filled with enemal. I like them really. The two in the back behind the toothpick are designed by Paloma Picasso. The one behind the red and white is a give away from the early 19th C from a company producing grave lights :-\ :-\
I saw a post : show me yours I show mine, but no more posts since years. I think I should leave some photos there, you will laugh about my silly collecting. On the bath ceiling for example I have something about 100 old glasses from the laboratory.... I‘m chemist and next to them a dozen Kluk flasks in all sizes from Holmegaard and a Tango Vase from maybe Lötz, you see... silly
-
not silly at all Monika! ;D
I have a background in laboratories too, and I just adore the Arthur Percy Skruf vases that look like volumetric flasks.

Hello Adam
I just visited the opensalt collection side. There is one collection from Lorraine which’s blows you away. And in the end, I think 3 pictures before end I think I saw yours. In the middle row on the left hand side. That is not a collection that is a salt museum

I live in a old very big farm house. The best of this house is 1 mile window ceiling, and every ceiling as a different theme ;D
-
The bigger the better!
My best one is red, lined with white, about 4 ' tall and I suspect holds more than 5l.
It was a present from another member here. :)
I keep mine on top of my kitchen cupboards.
I don't have windows as good as yours, though. ;D

This week I‘m very busy. But I think next week I will post some photos in show me yours I show mine, I think it will be fun to see if anybody likes to join, just for fun. For me it is a great pleasure to get feedback from people who are nuts like me. Maybe by this way some riddles will be come up and discussions. In my surrounding I‘ve no one who is interested in glass or even more nuts old handbags. They all think I should spent my money for something like a new coat ore jeans ::) :-[ :o
-
Mine would need cleaned first. :-[ :-[ :-[
Kitchens are not the best of places for keeping the high shine on the surface of glass. :'(
;D
-
If this is not a reason, but don‘t worry mine as well. Dust from a farm, incredible how much dirt comes in from the stable.

people who collect - almost anything - are the only really interesting people you can meet - the rest are simply growing old quietly, and nothing else. ;) ;)
Monica - thanks for sharing thoughts - perhaps we might rent some storage space on your farm ;D ;D
-
Paul that was heart worming, and your welcome, to visit and to get storage place ;D ;D ;D ;D
