Post by: jonspencer on October 16, 2019, 07:42:31 AM
this is my first post in German glass

I purchased this pendant lamp in northern Italy and was thrilled to learn it was from famous Bauhaus designer

this is the XL version, apparently there was a smaller lamp made>

Hello jonspencer,
don't trust commercial identifications! Commercial vendors have commercial interest.
The glass you showed is from (Peill-)Putzler in Germany indeed, but not a design by W.Wagenfeld. The form reminds of the "Bonn"-lamp but it has been manufactured only in white glass, not with any ornament.
Look at my photos from an original Putzler catalogue from 1960!
Your lamp is a worksdesign called "Madeira".
I am in research about glass and specially abaut Wagenfeld since 1987.
Best regards
H.Hannes

Thank you for the correction.

A contact I have on Instagram from Munich had insisted it was a Bonn Pendant and I trusted they were in fact correct. I have seen the plain design before billed as the Bonn pendant, just thought mine was a different version.
