Title: Holmegaard thin walled button base vase

 Hi,
 Holmegaard ( unmarked) vase with thin slightly fluted walls and a button shaped base.
Smokey grey with a trace of green ( hardly any really)
Paper label- faded red.
Was Holmegaard routinely producing thin walled glass in say the 50s 60s - the reason I’m asking is because all
the pieces of H I’ve got have thick-ish walls and are fairly heavy.
Any info on Holmegaard’s production trends appreciated.

 Hi John,
Mmmm it could be a drinking glass - obviously from a different range.
Their feet are very similar though.

This one’s (mine) rim has been cut and polished-would that sort of finish be acceptable for drinking glasses?

Because of its pristine condition I did wonder whether it had been the survivor from a set.

Scott, I used to think the same about flat rims on drinking glasses, but they are more common than I realised.  is your piece around 17cm tall?

Your rim has been cut and fire polished, though not very well, hence the wrinkles

In the Harder Net Link it is an ol glas, written with a slash through the O, that is the danish word for bear. In Germany bear glasses are very tall as well, so your glass might be a bear glass as well but 2 cm too high ??? But what I‘m thinking this is a vase belonging to the service. 19 cm instead of 17 cm is quite much on top. In Germany you often find vases fitting to the service, to have a decorated table out of one design. Sometimes you get candle holders, Serviette holders , ashtrays as well. So I think it is a vase.

I think you’re right, it may well have been included in a service for the reason you’ve given.

Anyway I don’t think I’d feel comfortable drinking beer from it  - in my youth,yes, but not now   :D. To me it really does look like a vase.

I think you’ve solved it - most grateful for your help, really appreciated.
