Hello,
I wonder if anyone could please help me to identify the maker of an ice bucket ? The monogram has foxed me, I've turned the item round and round and am still no closer. Any help gratefully received.
Many thanks.

sorry, no idea, and though I don't think it will help with an id for this mark, are you able to tell us if this is moulded glass, or cut - the mark might be related to the maker, or possibly a distributor/retailer. There is a marks section on the GMB - have you tried looking?
A picture of the whole item would be helpful, and perhaps you will tell us the height of the bucket. thanks. :)

Hi Paul
I think it may be Nachtmann Reidel having had a scoot about. The bucket is 16cm tall and a good weight, I'm pretty sure it's cut.
Many thanks for your help.

would agree, it does appear to be N.R. - good find. Not always easy to tell the difference between moulded and cut - though the latter should offer a good ring when flicked, and for those who want to be absolutely sure, if the cuts are viewed under a loupe/lens there might be just the vestiges of the grinding marks remaining.

Thanks Paul,
I'll remember the loupe suggestion.

half a century ago or more there was far less of a doubt as to the difference between cut and moulded - sadly makers/cutters now acid dip anything and everything in order to get rid of grinding marks - lot quicker than polishing them out manually. Unfortunately, this removes so much of the feel of the cut that you might as well go out and buy moulded glass to start with.
If this backstamp isn't on the Board's archive, you might consider adding it - will help for future reference. :)
