Title: Celery Vase ID-anybody recognize it?
Post by: durrancejo on November 07, 2019, 07:34:33 PM
Hi, I am trying to ID this canary/vaseline celery vase.  It is UV reactive.  It is not a known EAPG pattern that anyone recognizes, and it was suggested to me it might be English or French.  It has no RD number or maker's mark that I can find after very thorough searching.  Dimensions are 7.75 inches (19.8cm) tall, base width is 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) and top diameter is 4.5 inches (11.4 cm).  Any help is appreciated.  Thanking you in advance, Jo in FL

I would say it was English. That foot style appears on quite a few English vases

I defer to Lustrousstone's knowledge -  it avoids long winded debates ;) - but I'm having trouble seeing this as English.         Celeries were made in prodigious numbers, but you're very lucky to see anything other than clear examples  -  there seem to be only a very few in anything else  -  for example Brockwitz made one particular design in blue, red, clear and I think carnival.
I've trawled the usual suspects for a match, including Silber & Fleming, but can't see this design.             There are many of course that lack a Rd. No., so that's an unhelpful way to go.

What was the origin of this piece, for you?

Origin of vase for me was eBay, out of Texas.

Hi

When I first saw your vase I thought it may be Henry Greener . It reminded me of one of my celery vases which I think is similar in style an has a date lozenge for Henry Greener.

I have added a couple pictures of mine.
