Title: Cut and engraved, handled shots/cordials/schnapps glasses
Post by: catshome on November 17, 2019, 11:49:28 AM
I've been researching my set of these glasses, and was surprised to find very similar examples from a number of different countries, so I thought it might be helpful to pull something together for reference.  I have contacted several sellers for permission to include their photographs of labelled examples, and will add them as I get replies.  So far I have found examples from Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, and Korea.

Mine are below.  10.25cm high x 3cm rim diameter, 3.5cm base diameter, weight 88g.  Flat cut and polished rim, slightly concave base.  Note the slight bulge towards the base.  I have only found labelled examples with this feature from Korea.  Pattern is Strawberries, and appears fairly well executed.

If anyone has any labelled examples, please add them.  I couldn't find anything on the board about these pieces, probably because they're not really anything special, just cute little things.

If it is of any interest, many, many years ago, around this time of year, you were able to buy gift sets of 6 tiny handled glass "mugs" of a very similar construction, (not engraved) with little plastic tops on. Each contained a piece of fruit, pickled in some alcohol.
