Title: Loeffelhart Florida Vase ? Unidentified mark.
Post by: Jay on November 18, 2019, 10:22:12 AM
I had already expected/identified it in my hands as Loffelhart 'Florida'...so was surprised to see an etch mark on the bottom that I don't recognise.
Has the upwards/downwards  bubble configuration, and seems to match the catalogue shape.
Another in my collection has a Hassen HG sticker and a 'cut and mitred' edge, but this one is left uncut with a thick rounded edge.

Can anyone identify this mark??
It certainly could be Lusao, Lucas? Is it a chinese copy??

Nice Jay. I doubt it's a Chinese copy. The mark is a glasshouse complete with cone, if that helps

Although my eye says it's a male figure drinking from a bottle..LOL!

It certainly reads to be 'lukas'.... but google A-Z and Hartmenn has no clue...

Do you get anywhere with luxas?

Can't find a 'luxas' either, but maybe I need to know (better) where to look. Google isn't doing it for me! :(

Is the mark paint rather than an etched? A retailers mark perhaps?

Looking closely I think you could be right. On closest inspection it could very well be painted or painted !
Didn't know there were retailers who did that?! Any suggestions?

There were importers who had their own labels added, occasionally we see the same for retailers too.

..I meant 'painted or printed...' of course ...

 ;)
It is definitely a light print of white ink!
It WAS definitely a light print of white ink!
'cos when I kinda sort of rubbed it too hard, just because I was looking closely while inspecting it and then just like that... you know, I didn't really do anything much, and I just wet my finger ONCE!, and you didn't tell me to be careful so... it's completely disappeared!

Fingers crossed we don't now discover it was Loeffelhart's special secret signature or anything!! Anyway I now own another piece of 'Florida' so I'm happy. and learned something new!
Well TWO things actually! ROFL

Hello Jay, are you from UK or USA? I read LA luxus. I collect Zwiesel Heinrich Löffelhardt Florida and own almost a dozen, I bet my hat that your vase is original Zwiesel. I think this label is from a retailer. Zwiesel did not mark by painting, graving or acid or what ever, only a silver foil label. The man drinking looks to me like an A , so I thought this might me a dealer in LA.

Jay's in The Netherlands, Monika.
(are you not? Jay - but you were in Belgium for this, or is that just where it came from?)
I was googling LA with other stuff  ;D  And I think it looks very Schott Zweisel too. (nice stuff, under-rated)
It was the mention of other names I didn't know that confused me.
An enamelled-on logo would not have come off. :o
No matter how wet or sweaty you get near it! ;D

My best guess would be it was a very poorly applied white stamp (from rubber?) using a white powdery paint which didn't have enough sticking power. (or less likely but possibly... mega saliva is my secret super power?)

My hands and the design details said immediately 'right!' which is why the unexpected mark on the base threw me off for a moment! :)

and now I've actually REMOVED ID from a piece...after 30 years of unblemished professional record...and GMB member in good standing, I have committed an act of albeit inadvertent vandalism and removed an identifying mark. I feel so guilty! ;-)

Dear Sue (et al).
Hogelandshoeve moved to Belgium (near Tongeren) and opened our new Galleries on May 31st 2019. So yes! We are now officially Belgian. and the old site at hogelandshoeve.nl will disappear shortly and is reforming itself as Hogelandshoeve.be! It's like the transportation device on Star Trek, but much more work!! :)
