Title: Recent auction finds - 3 of 3
Post by: lesliec on November 23, 2019, 04:33:32 AM
Finally, the biggest of the three.

It's around 32cm tall with a nice glow under UV.  If there was a pontil on the bottom it's been polished out - the featureless expanse in the photo is really what the base looks like, although close up you might be able to see the centre is slightly rough while round the outside is smooth.  The decoration seems to be good quality, with the detail on the flowers looking (to me, anyway) as if it's been applied and fired separately.

Based on very limited experience I'm thinking all three vases might have been made in Bohemia, but that's very much a guess on my part and I'll be delighted if anybody can confirm or suggest an alternative.

Thanks for your help.

Yes Bohemian, possibly Harrach. You won't find a pontil mark as it's been cut from the top and not finished on a pontil rod. The enamelling was probably only fired once; it's just the way it was applied
