Title: Waterford domestic ware
Post by: chaz on November 23, 2019, 09:19:19 AM
Is there anyone with any information on the Waterford domestic ware brand? Come across a lot here in South East Ireland. Occasionally has a little rectangular sticker on the base, and a distinctive crinkle in the glass in the centre of the foot. I'm guessing 1950's onwards but can find no details of the company. Thanks in advance. Chaz

Hi  -  unsure chaz exactly what information in particular you're looking for -  are we talking cut glass here?     The Repalcements.com site will possibly give you pattern names and show some of the shapes within a certain model range.           Am sure you're aware of the backstamp appearance and other paper labels.
Waterford/Wedgwood went into receivership earlier in the C20, so what happened to the archives, which were held by Waterford, I've no idea.

Believe there is still something of a Waterford outlet in Waterford but seems most of the glass now being sold is made outside Ireland - have you tried to contact them?

Would have to be 1950s I'm sure, since the Waterford name was re-used only as recently as the late 1940s.

Sorry this is rather useless - perhaps others here will have some better information.

Reply appreciated. No, not the expensive cut stuff. The domestic ware is far more utilitarian and plain, bowls, glasses etc. Most of it could be classified as barware. Have spoken with ex Waterford glass workers and they know nothing about it. Wondering if it was part of Waterford glass or a separate company. I'm trying to establish a cut off date, as in when the company began producing. Cheers, Chaz.
