Have never been into these type of vessels just being honest i
never pick them up but did as i had been reading some threads
on here about Murano techniques and saw some Scavo & Corosso
pieces so i looked at the vase above and saw a faint mark so paid £2
a was wondering if this is a Murano Scavo piece or TKMAX? It is quite
weighty and just under 10" tall has a polished base and signed but i can't
make it out any ideas on its identity and construction please any views Thank
you so much Dan :)

Franco Moretti
:)

That's what the mark reads, Greg, but is that what it is?
I was all gung-ho and ready to say; "Lafiore", :-[
but you made me look at the surface texture again.
I can't actually make it out well enough to be able to tell. ???
-
:)
I was also going to ask for Ivo to take a look
as the threads i had been reading were mainly
helped by Ivo thanks to both i have maybe my
first piece of Murano Scavo? Sorry for poor pics
Sue i did on the hop in the loo as light was leaving
here and the camera hates taking decent pictures
i do hope i have managed to get my first one :)

The style does fit with some of Franco Moretti's work.
Here are a few others for comparison....

Ivo has retired from the board, I'm afraid. He had served his time and more! ;D
I'd love for you to have found some scavo too.
Thanks for those links Greg - you are convincing me. ;D
I've tried to find any Lafiore this shape, but not got far.
I haven't found any with that extra ring of blue around the neck either.
I'm starting to seriously suspect Lafiore might have been very "inspired" by Moretti. ;D ;D ;D
My lack of knowledge on Moretti is becoming rather obvious! :-[

There's certainly some overlapping characteristics. :)
On balance I think Dan's piece is ok for Franco Moretti, can't go too far wrong for £2!
:)

This is Whizzpopping lol i can remember seeing pieces such as these
one's and never thinking of picking one up???My loss i guess why is glass
collecting so great i have to admit i am becoming immersed in it but
happily i don't think it could get much better....Just so many different avenues
to explore Thank you Greg & Sue glass message board always a great resource :)

Oh Greg it was from the local skip or dump they have finally
decided to open a charity shop in a side building to the dump
and they try there best to hook decent things out before the
huge bulldozers get them i have seen some things in the bins
which you wouldn't believe could find there way into them its
terrible that people are so quick to sling our social histories away
i hope we all haven't forgotten that recycle is a good thing rant over ha
-
It's clearly not a snozzcumber. ;D
-
:o yep hahaha
Funny thing there was another vase in the shop also
it was similar but it was about 7" tall and more of a flared beaker
in shape but the surface treatment was a lot harsher it had real
pot holes and looked from a short distance like verdigris on bronze
or old copper with color that differed around the harsher areas like
proper burnt into the glass and slightly heavier from memory than this piece
but it was not signed and it was £4 so i didn't get it over this signed piece??
I may go get it in a few days after this maybe anyway...Love Bfg other night.
Mod: See new thread (https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,69095.0.html) for details of the £4 vase.
