Bought this vase recently as there seemed to be one or two odd things about it. The application of the base on to the main body seems unusual and the reheating to get the
colour fade caught my eye.
The base has a small bit of wear and a very sharp snapped pontil scar.
Overall it seems a well made thing.
As to a maker or even a country of origin I would welcome some input please.
All the best to everyone on this great forum for 2020.

the re-striking (re-heating) is usually to change the amber glass to red of varying depth - the top part - so in view of your thoughts that this has been re-struck, do you think there is a chance this is a form of amberina? - for which the original patent was taken out in the States.
Of course the red may not be the consequence of re-heating.

Thanks for the quick reply Paul, I had not thought at all about maybe an American connection. my understanding of the amberina method is not much.
In my mind I was thinking poor quality control on the reheat of a red colour. I have seen an uneven red colour spread on Riihimaki vases and Dartington flame vases.
Your suggestion may promt some of our American members to contribute.
Thanks again,

Has the look of the Polish maker Tarnowiec.

I hope the link works.
I don‘t say your vase is Holmegaard, but it reminds me. To be honest, I don‘t know if it is one peece or two

Thanks for that link Monika, very stylish candle holder. I could not find anything similar to my vase on the hardernet.dk site concerning Holmegaard.
The title of my posting is a bit confusing, it is made up of two parts but it is in fact a single piece of glass.
To John and Paul, I could not find anything on the Polish glass sites or on the American amberina sites.
Maybe not a production piece maybe a training item?
Thanks for your posts,
Tim
