Title: Can anyone help with this blue cased vase?
Post by: seanduxbury on January 10, 2020, 06:23:31 PM
Hi.  Hope someone can help.  I found this blue cased vase in the North West of England some time ago but so far have not been able to id it.  When I first found it my immediate thought was Riihimaki but despite numerous serches for Riihimaki and many other Scandinavian glass makers so far I've drawn a blank.  I'm beginning to reach the conclusion that it's not Scandinavian but might be from ?????.  It measures approximately 21.5 cm tall x 10 cm in diameter at the rim and 6.5 cm in diameter at the base - weight is 685 gms.  If anyone can id it or point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.  Many thanks

Hi Sean.  I don't quite know why, but I'm not getting a Scandinavian vibe from this piece.....maybe its something to do with the proportions, or the straight cylinder base then it just flares out to the rim.  For me, it lacks the "it" factor.  Would love it if someone more knowledgeable comes along with a Scandi answer for you but, in the meantime, might be worth considering Poland - possibly LSA or Krosno.
