Title: Help needed to identify glass
Post by: Louise on March 06, 2020, 03:34:13 PM
Hi All, I could not resist buying these recently as I liked them so much. But can anyone identify the country they originate from or even the glass blower. They are very small, the glass is thin and has a slightly rough feel to the touch a bit like sand cast.
There is a red tinge to the glass and no markings on the bases. Could they be Scandinavian ?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you

:) They might well be connected with Ed Iglehart or Tom Young.
I'm attaching a pic of an Ed Iglehart mushroom. I'd suspect you have something a little newer, or something Tom has taken a bit further than Ed did. He's younger than Ed, but trained with him.

Hi Sue

Thank you for your reply, I did think of Ed Iglehart as I have one of his yellowish coloured mushrooms. Yours is very nice  :)

I will see if I can google any information on Tom Youngs work.

Thank you
Louise

I'm sorry the pic is a bit out of focus, but it has a similar texture and the colour matches.

Your pieces do look a bit more sophisticated, which is why I'm thinking they could be newer and possibly something Tom did.
I believe Ed is retired now, his website isn't being maintained. (It can be found if you search for "Tipiglen" or "North Glen Gallery" and bits of it are still there.)
The last I heard was he announced giving up glass to embark on a project of planting fruit trees everywhere he can find a space to put one.   8)

Hi All

Just bumping this one up again, would be nice if anyone can tell me where these pieces might originate from
Thank you  :)
