Title: Kralik Bambus table lamp - show and tell

Bought the glass sections of this Kralik Bambus lamp a couple of years ago at the Newark antique fair but have only just had it returned to me after having all the metalwork made up. I suspect the original fittings would have held the shade quite a bit lower but I chose to use a switched bulb holder and access is needed to turn it on and off.

Guessing this is an item where the term rare really does apply.

Ta very much ladies.

Just been thinking about hanging a small bulb inside the base to light it but realised it may not work all that well, the flex is already inside and there is not that much space to start with. Speaking of which, for those who might be interested some dimensions - height of base 16cm, diameter of shade 17cm. Overall height in this configuration 32cm.

With the glass being white and the colours laid over that, it might well look weird if the base were lit from inside.
In this sort of situation, the light from the bulb will be sufficient to light the base externally.

The shade is covered underneath. So it gets lit from "behind". You would want the base to look the same, wouldn't you.?

What about scrunching up a small string of battery-operated fairy lights inside?

Sue Hunter did that with those 2 lighthouse/spacecraft lamps Mike had made, they had at the fair, to light up the body. I'm sure she said they were found in a certain well known american supermarket, here.

Not sure those lights would be bright enough Sue and then would any battery pack fit inside?

Sue just said it was a tiny cheap set, and from what I could see at the fair, they lit up the inside of Mike's lamp/sculptures beautifully. I don't have a clue what they look like. I didn't see them. They were completely hidden, inside the body (which was opaque). ;D
Maybe it was the sort that use those tiny little flat round batteries rather than the bigger cylinder ones?

Thanks Keith and Michael - it does look surprisingly modern. It has the same white background (with a touch of pink) as these two large vases. Might as well add the Bambus lemonade set for a bit of contrast.

Still looking for a bit of Marquetry which is often Bambus on steroids!
