Post by: djkglass on May 04, 2020, 04:06:02 PM
Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas who made this bowl? Thanks in advance.

:) I can't enlarge your pics, I'm afraid, so I can't see if there are marks on the bottom., but there is something that looks like a date (200something-faint at about 12 o'clock on the middle pic, and some scratches which may or may not read someting , or be remains of a label or glue, at about quarter past. :)
Would you try rubbing some talc or cinnamon or cocoa powder over the marks and see if they photograph any better?

Orient and Flume may be worth a look.  Pretty piece!

Thanks for the replies. Sadly nothing on the base at all, have checked thoroughly. The only thing present is some sticker residue.

I've been thinking all day that your bowl looked familiar, is it the same one as your 2017 post?

Must have been where the Orient and Flume thought came from.  I was also thinking Quezal, but I can see you will already have considered it.

Contemporary Czech maybe, along similar lines from a seller on Etsy:

Thought there was another outlet too but can't find it now.

Possibly Rindskopf, try the madforglass.com Rindskopf section No.53 and kralik-glass Rindskopf Amethyst Loop, sorry I don't do links.

Kralik does seem an option. Seen some very similar colours and some bowls with this milky white interior. My only issue is i think Kralik finished just before WWII and i'm not sure this is anywhere near that kind of age.

I get the impression it could be more recent than the early 1900's, can't see much in the way of wear and if so that would tie in. Probably worth taking the time to discount Okra but look at contemporary American and those Czech producers as well.

I think it's far more recent too.  :)
Contemporary with Okra, Orient and Flume. I'm sure it's Studio.
I have a vague ponder about a Ditchfield unique piece but dismissed it as not a very useful lead.
Colours are not right.

I just looked for Poschinger Jugendstil Glas , there a pretty many quite similar peaces. 2 other companys are Eisch and Joska . Joska Is producing quite good replikas from old Glas. For me your Glas looks quite young, that is was I came to Joska. All 3 Company are german so search for the Company Name and Jugendstil ( Art nouveaux)
