Title: Scandi style waisted cased vase
Post by: chasdevlin on May 17, 2020, 10:56:09 AM
Hi
I've been looking at some of my unidentified pieces again and trying to find out more.
The below piece screams Scandinavian but I've not been able to find the model and maker. It's in a purple so dark that it actually looks opaque although it does, in fact, let in some light. My main suspect is Aseda as I know they made this kind of cased waisted vase and I've also seen pieces by them in this kind of very dark purple, but I haven't been able to match the two. Of course it could be a number of other Scandinavian makers too (and, of course, I can't exclude it being more modern and not from Scandinavia at all).
The base has those slight concentric circles that are found on some Scandi pieces ( for instance I've seen this finish on some Riihimaki pieces) so that might be a further clue. Any ideas?
Oh..I should also say it's 8 inches/20 cm high. Thanks!

I would suggest looking at German makers too, the purple had me wondering about Friedrich Glas.

In reply no5 in this topic Dirk gives the names of several manufacturers who made similar:

Thanks John,  I hadn't really looked at Germany. I'll have a search!
