Title: Mystery Brand Cod Neck Bottle - Any ideas appreciated!

Hi All,

Matt from New Zealand here...

I'm trying to figure out what language or brand is embossed on this cod neck bottle! I've taken a pencil rubbing and compared it to the Cyrillic alphabet (my first thought) but it doesn't match up very well  :-\

So if anyone has any info or clues that could help identify what this bottle contained or what country it was made for it would be very much appreciated :-)

Under the first line of text is a bird symbol which doesn't come out very well in the rubbing.

Does it read any better in a mirror? I'm just wondering if it was supposed to be read from the other side.  :)

I have a few of these cod bottles and I read that these where produced all over the world and are still produced in Japan. But this looks more indish Hindi for me.
