This is a close up of a glass I've posted under British & Irish Glass. I've been trying to work out what sort of fruit it represents but can't decide. I've not been able to find the same design anywhere and I wonder if anyone has an idea as to what it is.

:) It looks a bit like the very poisonous Yew.
With other bits that look a little like Laburnam pods - also very poisonous. :o

Thanks Sue, I did think it looked a bit like fir cones and needles but couldn't work out why that would be used as a design.

I can't think why yew (or laburnum) would be used either. If you wanted to poison somebody, you wouldn't want to tell them, by using something like this. ;D

The Yew tree is also symbolic of eternal life, so I suppose it could be used to wish someone longevity. ???

I'll be cafe-d if I carry on like this, but I can't resist quoting a line from a toast:-
"I've drunk to your health so many times, I've just about damaged my own."
Sorry. I'll shut up now. :-[
