Title: A new mystery set?
Post by: theElench on July 08, 2020, 04:28:39 PM
I bought these today although they are a bit the worse for wear, hoping someone will confirm that they are enameled?  The stripes are a metallic silver while the flower panels are a mat-grey.  I have nothing with a similar finish to compare them with.

When I saw them I thought they would turn out to be one of the patterns from the Royal company, but they're not from any of the sets so far identified.  I couldn't find them in "Mysteries" either.

Although they are very solid and "blocky" very few of the lines are straight, instead of having geometric symmetry most of the faces are slightly out.

The comb holder measures  20 x 8cms.
The trinket pot  roughly   11.5 x 7.5cms.
The perfume bottle  roughly   11 x 7cms.

I think I've found the ID, Landeskronen Kristall S & M = Siebert & Marquardt

There is another thread on labelled pieces by this maker here:

Thank you Jayne, so not a mystery at all.  I'm somewhat surprised, if what I have is their usual standard, to see their work referred to as "high standard".  It seems to lack the precision that I associate with glass of the period.  I'm still guessing it is enameled, so presumably it was considered high enough to decorate.  It's certainly unlike anything else I have collected :)
