Title: What is this?
Post by: Marijan on July 27, 2020, 03:05:59 PM
Is this some food/drink related vessel for storing, what ever, vine, oil, schnaps, pickled something.... or simply just a large vase?

It seems quite large for a vase with 46 cm height, 25 cm largest diameter. Base d-12cm, neck/lip opening 7,5cm and 14,5 across the lip.
Was there ever a lid, if it is not a vase? It has four vertical lines on the body from the middle of the "neck" towards the base arranged in such a way that if the mould was used for making it (probably?), there where two wider and two narrower moulds. Neck/lip section is again separated from the rest of the body with horizontal line around the neck.

Blow moulded in the second part of the 19th century handle-less glass amphora :)?

Few more. If there is a part of the piece or an angle that should be photographed at, to make ID easier, tell me please.

This was, hopefully, just impulsive buy and I will not end up looking for the glass pieces everywhere. But I had to have this one. The owner  of the small antique shop just exhibited it out of the door of his shop when a was passing by, and I picked it and bought it.

There look to be random air bubbles although its difficult to really tell unless its pictured in front of a plain white background for example.  I'm just wondering if it could possibly be made from recycled glass IMHO?  Possibly Spain.  Lovely looking vase.   ;)
