Title: Cut Glass Cup ID Request
Post by: Roobarb on August 24, 2020, 12:39:46 PM
Hello, do you recognise this glass cup? I have a set of two and I think they're probably for punch, but haven't been able to find anything similar.

They are more likely custard cups or dessert bowls. You couldn't drink out of them. Are they really cut? They look more like pressed glass to me

If they are pressed, I saw something similar American I think, beginning with a Ta??? Glass on ebay yesterday.  But discarded the search because they were pressed.

They do remind me of Hofbauer type glass but all of those seem to have the bird motif.

Update -

It was Tarentum  - never heard of it though.

Mine did too Sue but I think they are often marked aren't they?

I looked for that first though before remembering I'd seen something American in the distant past.

Not always. They have confused me a few times. And there's the slightly earlier (I think) Arcopal.

Thank you all, yes sorry they are pressed. I'll have a look into all your suggestions  :)
