Title: Green opaline uranium glass vase I’d help please.
Post by: thewingedsphinx on September 02, 2020, 09:24:08 AM
Morning all,
Any help appreciated, both vases are signed S.S.X  P ? a ? w?  Not quite sure, unable to see in the “great glass” Signature page.
Looking in Cyril Manleys book of “decorative Victorian glass” Some similar items attributed to Richardson’s but I think they could be French? They have a gold Greek key pattern in gold gild.

Thanks Mike

With that type of gold gilding I'd say they were French. I think the mark was added later by an owner or cataloguer? and says "S S X pair". They could be uranium glass, a UV light shone inside will tell you.

That did cross my mind as I won them in Sussex so perhaps a previous owner marked them. I’ll add a uv photo later.
Thanks
