Title: A torpedo vase from LSA? Please help me out.
Post by: wy699usa on September 11, 2020, 12:53:16 PM
This is a strangely shaped vase. I call it torpedo vase just due to its shape. It stands at 14" tall and weights only 989g. I guess it is from LSA Polish, but maybe it is from Scandinavian. Thanks, Peter

LSA is just an importing/exporting company, not a glassmaker.  :)

Hi Sue, I understand LSA is a big company. But, could you identify this vase for me? Swedish or Finland?

More likely Poland.  :) Possibly from the Krosno region - there are a lot of glassmakers associated with that name and pinning anything down is really difficult. I couldn't find a single one to visit when there. The shops were full of Jablonski, lampwork figurines and christmas tree baubles. And all the mountains of the usual flashed and cut stuff.
Jablonski was the only named artist whose work could be found.
The museums were full of amazing modern stuff. :)

edited to add.  :)
I've just noticed the strange purple colouration towards the top.
I'm starting to suspect there is not an LSA label on it? I had assumed there was.
I don't think they would have permitted the odd colouration. I don't think the finish is good enough for Poland or LSA.
I don't think this would be Polish. Possibly Japanese.
