Title: Brown Art Glass Dish with White Flecks ID Help
Post by: Roobarb on September 29, 2020, 12:02:40 PM
Hello, this is about 15cm in diameter and 6cm tall. It has a rough base with a smooth base rim. Any ideas on this piece would be great thank you :)

My tummy is gurgling and muttering something about Romania. But it might just be imaginative wind. ;)

I wonder if it comes from the same maker as this vase?

Hello M, think that one is a bit different, the others are quite rough to touch the one you've found looks smooth  ;D ;D

It does look very similar, well spotted! The base is different but I guess that's due to how they make different pieces...?

Possibly.  I see what Keith is saying though.  The vase has smaller white flakes and is polished.  I also think Sue has a good point on Romanian, as  the colour and that waxy finish reminds me very much of some cameo pieces called Tip Galle. I had a beautiful ashtray in cameo with Tip Galle on it.  It was that burned amber brown as well.

I've also seen one in dark amethyst.

I think German maybe? or Japanese is where I'd start looking.
