Please could someone tell me anything about this bowl. The blue glass is quite thick and has an uneven base. The metal casing has cut out animal shapes and the glass is blown (?) through the holes and protrudes on the outside. It measures 20cm in diameter and is 9.5cm high. I don't know if it's old or modern but I've been trying to identify it for two years since I bought it from a charity shop.
Thank you

Is the metal cast iron? Daum used this technique but in much more ornate pieces. Yours looks like arts and crafts style and possibly French.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I think it's cast iron. It's quite rusty and heavy. It looks stunning with fairy lights in!

There was a designer called Louis Majorelle but as I mentioned his designs were more ornate, but he's a possibility.

I've just had a look at Louis Majorelle - I can see a similarly, but you are right, my bowl looks much more rustic! I love the Louis Majorelle work, thanks for introducing me to it!

Some more examples via this link, never managed to find anything definitive and of course there may well be more than one maker producing similar wares:

Thanks John, the blue & copper bowl you posted looks to be from the same source as mine. I shall keep researching!

I thought the metal of yours and the rim around the bottom looked similar to the Daum pieces. It was probably bought in from another manufacturer who may have made yours as well. Louis Majorelle was new to me until I saw a piece of his recently.
