Title: I.D help with this pink vase.
Post by: theElench on October 30, 2020, 04:03:03 PM
Can anyone I.D this vase please?

I thought it might be Walther "Schale" but can now see that the decorative pattern isn't the same.

Could it be Brockwitz ?

It's 19.5cms in height.

From the stippling, colour and appearance it ought to be Stölzle, but it's not in the catalogues.

I didn't think of Stolzle.  I have some of their "Fish-Scale / Feathers and "Squared -Eye" pieces.  All quite geometric and without stippling.

I thought possibly "Brockwitz" because the overlapping bands reminded me of some of their overlapping foliage decoration.

Thanks Nev.

I was thinking of the range they do beginning 194-- with the stippled rings and clear "prunts". Brockwitz is still a possibility as they used a similar stippling. By the way we see "Schale" a lot meaning "bowl" but I see it also means "shell".

I know the range you mean, the stippling is different with "veiled" raised shapes beneath the stippling.  But as you say Stolzle did use stippling.

I was pronouncing "Schale" as in "school" and coming-up with "scale".  The decoration on the "Schale" bowl in the 1937(?) catalogue seemed similar from memory, but is completely different on closer inspection.  Sort of a cross between scales and a Celtic Knot design.

Thanks for your help and suggestions.

Just a Little help with the German  ??? ;D

Schale (bowl) is spoken like shining not like scale  :D

Schale is a bowl or the skin of a fruit: apple skin is Apfelschale

Shell is a Muschel. A Muschelschale is a bowl in form of a shell or the outside of a shell. If you just say Muschel (shell) the whole animal is the meaning
