Title: Help please - can anyone help with this Flygsfors Coquille style bowl
Post by: seanduxbury on December 06, 2020, 04:09:04 PM
Hi.  Found in the North West of England - no labels, no marks but very similar to some of the Flygsfors Coquille bowls I've seen, however without any marks my 'gut' feeling is that this is possibly a copy.

It measures 22 cm x 12.5 cm x 12.5 cm (L x W x H) and weighs 576 gms.  Smooth polished base.

Can anyone point me towards somewhere that I might be able to possitively id it.

Thanks

Possibly Bayel or Reijmyre.

See http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,4295.0.html and http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,7576.0.html for similar examples. :)

On page 383 of The Decanter by Andy McConnell he shows an original 1959 Flygsfors Coquilles series dish next to “the modern copy” that is very similar. He identifies the modern one as 1990s IKEA, made in China and unsigned. There is only one picture from one angle, but it does look very like the one in this thread, so is a possibility.

Usually Coquille is clearly marked.  The versions similar to this in my experience contain a white strand between the green(solid colour) and the outer edge.
