Hi All
I came this beautiful vase while clearing out my Aunts house. She has dementia and cant help identify the origin. There is a signature etched into the bottom and what appears to be digits but I have had no success in google searches of various guesses. My Aunt has taken a few trips to Europe so I assume it is from somewhere there.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I think it's Mtarfa glass from Malta, Sue(M)/chopin-liszt will probably reply on this.
-
Thanks NevB, gives me another avenue to search.
Forgot to mention above, vase is 30cm high and 14cm wide.
Cheers

No way Mtarfa! Sorry Nev. ;D
I think this is probably Aussie Studio Glass. I'm not big on their names, but Brewster might well have a good idea.
It's a gorgeous piece. I can almost feel the expanses of burning outback and endless deep blue skies which inspired it.

Wrong again ::), but it does amaze me that glassmakers produce such beautiful pieces and then put an indecipherable mark on.
-
:) I could see where you were coming from with the colours Nev, but this is a bit better than Mtarfa.
There was also the matter of "undecipherable mark".
Trevor (Brewster) has managed to educate me a little bit about Aussie glass, but he's the chap who really knows about it. I'm very curious myself. :)
This is a link to the section on identified New Zealand and Australian glass, it might be well worth a browse here. :)

Browsing myself, I've found a link to images and marks, collated.

It has some similarities to my eye with this one by Gerry Reilly - colours and applied foot etc but not entirely sure about the shape. However might be worth exploring further. His signature appears to be notoriously bad so I suppose that could explain differences in sig?

I think this should link to an image of gerry riley's mark.
I found a page of sigs and pics, clicked to modify my post, but forgot to click save.
It should be there now. I found this in it.

eta again. ::)
I found a link to Trevor's blog on Aussie glass in your link, m. :-* That might help too.

mm, similar type applied foot on that piece - also 'landscape 'y' in design and I do think it's possible the sig 'could' read G Reilly ?

Thanks so much for your help. I am really enjoying the learning experience, its amazing what you can find out when you go looking. :)

Sorry folks, I've been missing in action. That vase is made and signed by Marc Kalifa of Maleny Queensland. So Sue was right (again) in so many ways. It should be easy enough to find matches for the style on the Internet. There is an example of the signature here.

I was right only in thinking that you would know, Trevor.
And you did! ;D
I hope you are ok, having been missing in action. :)

Thanks Sue, I'm fine. Just that my attention has been elsewhere. A cartoon strip of my childhood about military life called it "goofing off".

That's a relief. :) I hope you were having fun.

Thanks Trevor. I reached out to Marc Kalifa and he confirmed it is one of his pieces.
