Is this large controlled bubble vase whitefriars? It measures 10 inches tall diameter 7.25 inches base 4.75 inches and it weighs 1.59kg any opinions would be appreciated.[/img]

Hi Mick, I think it might be. I just sold one similar with optic vertical lines which I think might have been Whitefriars but have only seen the ones with optic horizontal lines attributed to Whitefriars so far.

Hello and thank you for your reply it's very much appreciated.

A close up of the pontil mark would be handy, it looks a bit uneven.

We had a member here who did quite an extensive blogspot on whitefriars.
This is a link to the page on knobblies, but there are other links there. You'll find loads of images and info.

I am not convinced this vase is a wfs colour, but I don't know them all off by heart.
The whitefriars forum itself seems to be kaput.

The Whitefriars facebook group is very active and should be able to help.

Hi Thanks for the info will have a look at the Facebook group

The size and regular lines of the bubbles don't look typically Whitefriars, and I have doubts about the base/pontil too but I could be wrong.
It could be European but I can't be specific.

Maybe an English maker but not Whitefriars? I think I sold a very similar vase in December from my flea market stall, did you buy it in Cardiff Mick?

Hi John no it didn't come from Cardiff, it belongs to my wife and she has had it for ages.
Thanks for your interest and the link.

Was a bit of a long shot. ;D
I would have said I didn't think it was Whitefriars and not a clue who else it might have been.
