Hello, I've seen pieces like this before but they always have hunting scenes on them. From what I can gather its from the 1800s but I wondered if anyone knew if this scene had a name or of the artist? There seems to be a goodbye of sorts but I can't really work out what's occurring. Thank you :)

I haven't a clue - but I also have not seen this sort of bubbly green glass that is not some sort of reproduction, and I don't think this is one of those. So I'm replying and getting the popcorn ready. ;)

Hi,
could they have found their decorating inspiration here?

Hi and thanks for sharing this :) Yes the horse and carriage scene is really similar.

I suspect this is related to the bubbly green wares with engraved ships etc, ie contemporary. Is there much wear on the base? Is the decoration worn?
By the way there is now pink bubbly glass with engraved ships 'floating around'.

It has a very neat polished pontil scar. I can’t remember ever seeing that on those bubble glass engraved ship pieces - most I’ve seen had snapped rough pontil scars. Here are a couple of links, I assume these are the types glassobsessed mentions. I notice the subject of the first link has a rough ground pontil scar.

Hi, yes there's some scratching to the base but the scene seems to be in great shape.
Thanks Ekimp :) I'll take a look through those threads. From a quick look I'd agree they're not quite the same sort of piece. Here are the pieces I've found online that do seem really similar...

The glass in your first link has the same huntsman as this carafe set (which is crackle glass). Both the tankard and carafe set were iridized, not sure how helpful this is but here they are anyway.

Andy McConnell The Decanter has similar hunting scenes on crackle glass as Karel Palda 1930-1950s (page 355). Searching Karel Palda comes up with this:

30s was my guess for the carafe set, the tankard has a very orange iridescence - a very similar iridescent finish to some Iris Decor wares made in the 1930s by Kralik.

That's the same scene as mine Ekimp - slight differences like the one in the link from Nick.a but overall the same :) Doesn't show the other side on the listing, but mine has another part to it, at what appears to be a gravesite? Thank you for sharing :) Will keep looking

Oh and I just found this...http://www.martelmaidesauctions.com/asp/fullcatalogue.asp?salelot=F80489+++616+&refno=
Describes it as soda glass...

I feel the cross, especially up on a hill, might be significant in some way. ::)
It's not present in most hunting scenes.
