Title: A Question about Amber Flashed Pieces.
Post by: theElench on March 09, 2021, 04:07:28 PM
The answer is probably simple for those who have seen more than one of these "in the flesh", but sadly I haven't.

The question is how consistent was the shade of Amber in the same set over time?

I'm interested in adding another piece to the Mystery 094 atomiser I have but from the sellers photos the amber looks much paler,  but they have been taken using a flash.  The seller has added  photos without flash and they do look a little darker.  I notice in the GTS photos there are some with dark and others paler flashing.

I know photos can be filtered and affected by settings, I also know that strong sunlight can affect some colours and that over time manufacturers sometimes changed the shade of their colours.

I'd appreciate any opinions particularly directly relating to the 094 set, as I'd like my set to all have matching shades if possible.

Thanks.
PS.  my thread on the 094 Atomiser is still on this page, towards the bottom.

It's difficult to say for sure but I have seen variations from bright yellow/gold to a darker amber yellow as well, and photos and screens don't always give a true colour.

Thanks for replying, sadly the piece I was interested in has already sold.

To be clear and for future reference, are you saying that you've seen "in the flesh" variations or screen images thatappear to show some variation?

In my experience they vary a lot.  :)

I should expland on my earlier reply, amber flashing varies in colour a lot in my experience. For Mystery Trinket Set 94 in particular I cannot say definitely.

Also the set has been seen with Phönix Glashüttenwerk labels see thread:

Thanks for the additional replies Jayne.  Looks like getting anything like an exactly matched set is going to be more difficult than I thought!!

I know from taking my own photos that cameras sometimes have a mind of their own and just won't show others what I'm seeing.  And again from experience how difficult it can be to get even a well matched pair of vases or candlesticks, when over time manufacturers changed colours and sizes slightly.

It all adds to the fun of collecting!!
