I have just deciphered the signature on a bowl that I've had for years (using talc) and it turns out to be by Richard Langdown.
There is an old thread on the Message Board from 2016 that shows work by this maker, but back then no one then could find out anything about him.
https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,62880.msg352968.html#msg352968
I haven't been able to find more myself, so I'm wondering if anyone else knows of anything new that has come to light since 2016?
Thanks, Iain

I didn't see the other thread on the pink bit, has anybody yet mentioned Charlie Meaker? He made this style of work. Could Langdown have had a connection with him?
It was in '79 Michael Harris and William Walker got their particular technique for using silver foil sorted, with the invention of the (unpatented) suction marver followed by learning to judge not overheating it.

I'm Richard Langdown and yes I did make this piece!
I worked for William Walker from 1980 to 1991 at his studio in Wimborne Minster. Initially helped him build his workshop/ furnace etc and I had no previous experience working with glass.
I stuck around and stayed for 11 years!! Somehow, I had the "gift" and took to glassblowing quickly.
Working as William's apprentice his skills rubbed off on me.
I also worked with the late and great....Charlie Meaker working on his twisted cane decorating technique on his frequent visits to the studio.
I truly was spoilt!
Part of the arrangement with William was I was allowed studio "time" which gave me the opportunity to create pieces and develope ideas of my own .
During the 11 years I produced pieces that were sold in the studios shop.
Some have found their way here!
I'm sadly no longer in the trade but look back to that period of my life fondly.
I have a few pieces tucked away and I'll upload some pics....if anyone is interested?
Regards
Richard

William Walker does pop in here occasionally. He has been kind enough to help out and show us his work too. :)

Welcome and thanks for joining.
It's always great to hear information from the makers directly :)

We do have techie help here, if you are having trouble posting images, Richard.
https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/board,22.0.html
If that doesn't help you, just ask one of us and somebody will resize your images for you. I'm afraid I can't, I'm in techie limbo-land since windows 7 died on me. :-[
