Title: Murano? Glass Bon Bon Dish ID Help Please
Post by: Roobarb on April 19, 2021, 01:42:02 PM
Hello, I wondered if anyone knew of the maker of this piece? My guess would be that it's Murano but I can't find any direct references. The base colour is amethyst, the base is polished and it has aventurine running throughout. Thank you :)

It's rather lovely, whatever it is. It has a good few features in common with AVEM Tutti-fruitti, but some not.
The aventurine, the silver foil and multicolours over that, is kind of right, but the overall appearance of the overlaid colours isn't what I would expect. Amethyst would be a very unusual colour, and the shape is more complex than I'd expect too.
But at least it is yours.  8)

It looks like it has a lot of wear ?have you been over it with a magnifying glass or your phone ?

The amethyst glass is perhaps a little too thin, as it is the base for most black glass.  Definitely Murano - but which maker may be very hard to verify.  Several known makers did a similar style of work.

Thank you all for your replies :)

I have had a good look for a signature but can't find anything. Thanks Ross re confirming my thoughts of Murano, I did find another in the same shape etc which was attributed to Murano but no signatures or stickers on that one either so wasn't sure.
