Title: Thorny Branch Tomatoes???
Post by: ttttootall on June 05, 2021, 11:05:00 AM
Thorns on tube vase with applied vine, leaves and 2 large fruit. I have seen one other with one fruit smaller and more iridescent than satin. Described as Kralik. The vase stands 16 1/2 inches or 42 cm. The fruit measures approximately 3 inches or 7 1/2 cm. The pontil is clear and rough. Auction catalog described as “Hand Blown Glass Vase with Tomatoes”. I am wondering the type of fruit on vine. Did find a type of Apple called Kei Apple That grows on a branch with very large thorns. Other than that all is questionable. Any help with the description of this vase would be most appreciated. Thanking you in advance, Tony

I think it is right that it is Kralik but some pieces of glass, not just theirs, are not botanically correct. Also I think the scale is larger than life size and perhaps you need to look at it as though the fruit are only small berries. Is it possibly supposed to be two separate plants twined together  ??? but what I don't know.
