Title: Cow finial footed round butter
Post by: RosyHoN590 on June 26, 2021, 05:29:14 AM
Hello all, does anyone have an idea of maker ID for this milk butter dish, cow with wheat ears design? The only clue I can find is on Worthpoint which says Davidson.  I do believe it’s English (bought up north - Teesdale).
Ps is there any online resource where you can look at Davidson designs registered and unregistered, probably early I think (late 1880s - pre WWI?)
Thanks

This associated site has a Davidson glass section, your dish isn't in there but it is a good reference. Does yours have a registration number or lozenge on it?, possibly inside.

Henry Greener also made this oval dish with a similar finial.

We have some similar pieces with a same foot but there still a mystery https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,67667.msg376827.html#msg376827

Never seen any others of this pattern, maybe early Davidson 1870’s ?????
Kind regards Mike
