Title: Studio vase pontil mark - what is it?
Post by: chilternhills on August 28, 2021, 04:35:39 PM
I have looked at this mark at all angles. At one angle it looks like a bird. At another angle it looks like a castle! It is on a small studio glass footed vase, with purplish speckled body. Bought in the UK, so may be British. Any ideas? I can't find anything online to match. Thanks.

Might be Gibraltar Glass, don't think it is Channel islands.

I've just retrieved a boxed and certificated piece of Gibraltar Crystal. The bottom of the tiny spattered green and blue posy is a mix of marvered flat around the outside and a heat finished broken pontil mark inside that. There is no logo similar to the one shown on the box or the certificate, although there is an image which looks a bit flame like on the box.
But I looked up Gibraltar Crystal logo images and found this three towered castle.
Well spotted, John.  ;D

Fantastic. Thanks. That's my first piece from Gibraltar Crystal.  ;D I didn't know they existed until today.

Thanks again.
