something else from this morning's haul - which am assuming is a salt - but stand to be corrected. I got rather carried away with the photography - some of the results reminded me of the effect when peering through a kaleidoscope, Quite heavy - substantial relief diamonds with the inevitable damage to the extremities - beautifully ground/polished pontil depression and top rim giving a nod toward a trefoil or Van Dyke cut, but not quite making it. If the fingers miss the opening when going for salt it might be uncomfortable, and the diamonds are sharp enough to make it not something you'd want to hold for long. Plenty of wear, as can be seen. 2.5 inches tall (c. 65 mm) - a lot of reflection with some of these small cut items which makes the photo image not always the most clear in terms of shape etc. - if anyone wants to see from another angle do shout.
Obviously attribution is out of the question, but would folk like to have a stab at dating this one please. thanks for looking
