Title: Legras? Carafe/Jug
Post by: NevB on September 15, 2021, 05:06:11 PM
I thought this was interesting. It is mould blown with an applied handle, fire polished rim and has a ring pontil mark in a domed base which makes me think French. It has enamel grapes and worn gilded vine leaves with a gilded rim and base. The inside of the spout has been partially ground and it has the number 24 on the base so it may have had a matching numbered stopper. I have seen one online with similar gilding but a plain handle attributed to Legras who could be a strong possibility. There is nothing in the 1896 onwards catalogues on glas-musterbuch but I think this is earlier possibly 1850-90.
