Post by: vintagerose on September 05, 2006, 02:27:07 AM
Not sure of the maker or pattern but I am pretty sure it is the same for all three pieces

small berry bowl measures: 4 1/2" http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-3089

rectangle dish measures: 8 3/8" http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-3090

scalloped bowl measures: 7 1/2" http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-3092

All Three Pieces together http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-3087

Thank You!

My mom and I inherited tons of bowls in that same pattern and we've been told that the pattern is Inspiration by Anchor Hocking, however, we've seen it referred to as burple, boopie, etc online and at shops/markets.

Hi,
I checked out boopie and my pieces don't seem to fit.
They look more like Oyster & pearl, especially the berry bowl.
The plate is an unknown, I can't find anything like it under boopie or oyster & pearl.
I agree though they are probably anchor hocking.

I feel your pain. I can't find these items in any of the seven books that we have yet see them all over the place (in shops, online, etc). It is exasperating.

When I get home, I'll take a pic from a book I have that shows your rectangular tray, if I remember correctly. The book is "Dimestore Glass of the Depression Era" and I don't think the piece was id'd as to maker. Just mentioned as one of many inexpensive pieces that were made for Woolworths and other stores like that in the 1930's-40's era.

Give me a few hours, as much as I would love to sell glass full time, at this point I still have to keep my day job, ha.

Sounds great! I remember Woolworth's as a kid. We used to go there all the time, guess we were poor. Funny as a kid you don't notice.
Thanks,

Ah but don't forget, Clarice Cliff wares were made exclusively for Woolworth's in the UK, and see what happened to those!

I remember trips to Woolworth's too - I remember the smell, it always smelled like popcorn and candy in there, ha - I lived near a very small town in the Midwest US, and we went into town a month and always got to go to Woolworth's, it was a TREAT!

Hi again!

Well, this is what happens when you get old - the tray you have isn't the one pictured in my book, sorry about that.

Here are the two in the book, close but no cigar:

However, the berry bowls are - did not have a name listed (or maker) but did have this photo:

These are from Dimestore Glass of the Depression Era by CL Lewis.

Sorry not to have been of more help...

I sure appreciate the pics. The berry bowl like you said is right on. Too bad they didn't bother to put in the maker or pattern.  That would have been great.

If anyone else can find out please let me know.

Thanks again!

VR -

I am out of town but when I get home either tonight or tomorrow, I will look these up for you.

I think they are in HMW 2.  The bowls may not have a name.  I think they are stand alone pieces and not part of a line.

The small berry bowl is Anchor Hocking Burple.  I think Burple is the name that Hazel Marie Weatherman gave the pattern in her book Colored Glassware of the Depression Era 2.  It is shown on page 142.  It camn be found in crystal, Royal Ruby  and Forest Green.

The 2nd piece is also Anchor Hocking and is a relish tray.  It does not have a pattern name and is not part of a line.

You can see it here

I am not sure about the other bowl.

Thanks again Connie. I have been looking. What book did you find the relish dish in?  I have a book on depression glass but these are not in there. Thanks again!  :D

VintageRose, your two images above have vanished from GG. Could you add them back to this topic for future reference please? Someone was trying to view the pics and flagged up they are missing. Many thanks :)
