Greetings from Downunder, Australia.
I have a 900g large paperweight which at first sight I thought was unmarked. On closer inspection I see a blob of glass which was dropped over the pontil and a letter "W" has been impressed into the glass when it was hot. Obviously, it could also be an "M" or "AA" or even "VV". There are many permutations, the only one coming to my mind is Adam Aaronson, but usually he signs in full, although I have seen an AA signature on a vase attributed to him, but this had a line through the middle to cross the A's.
Many thanks in anticipation of cluey paperweight detective lurking out there!

Hopefully, this will be a better size!

Hi Barry
I think this is probably a "W" and if so is probably from Wheaton Village
in the USA (now known as the Wheaton Village arts and cultural centre).
I am in the UK but I believe that visiting glass artists to Wheaton Village
would produce items that were sold in the Wheaton Village shop and such
pieces were marked with an impressed "W" to the base.
Probably one of our USA members will be able to confirm this and give you more info.
Best regards
Derek

Thanks for the info Derek, I would never have considered Wheaton. Have sold a couple of old Wheaton New Line pieces a few years ago!
I will await one of our USA colleagues to give us confirmation.
Thanks for the input!
